i have pimpels from more than 4 years. these are on cheeks %26amp; chin only which are postular becomes less in dry weather. i get irrited with it.also i have white%26amp;blackheads on nose%26amp;chin.it gives bad look from distance also even after cleaning it.what should i do??????????How do get rid of acne since 4 years?%26amp;also whitehead blackhead?
As you mentioned, different types of acne are treated differently.
For blackheads, you want either over the counter salcylic acid products for sensitive skin (use at night because you can get a rash from sun) or a prescription of Retin-A type product.
For pustular acne, you want either benzoyl peroxide products over the counter in the AM or something prescription such as clindagel, which has an antibiotic in it to reduce inflammation and keep acne bacteria at bay and benzoyl peroxide in it.
Cystic type acne needs an antibiotic, period. Tetracycline has been used for years and can be very helpful.
Give your acne products one month. If you don't see a large improvement, go to your family doctor or dermatologist.
You can also get a ';comedone extractor'; from your pharmacist to push out the blackheads. Don't listen to people who say it will cause scarring and all that. I worked dermatology and getting the blackheads out allowed the medication to get in.
If none of the usual products work, and the acne is really bothersome, then you can consider oral Accutane, which works like nothing else. It is a drug that is metabolized through your liver, so you need bloodwork before you start it, while on it, etc. to monitor your liver labs to make sure you don't have any unwanted side effects.
All over the product medications are the same: Benzoyl peroxide in the AM and Salicylic acid in the PM with a mild, non-comedogenic (non-pore-clogging) face wash such as Cetaphil, Almay and a moisturizer that also is hypoallergenic and non-pore-clogging.
See a doctor. Tell them what you tried and go get something that actually works.
Clindagel and Retin-A changed my face. Good luck.
PanOxyl is good for red acne. I like it too, but all these products can be irritating, so make sure you get the ';sensitive skin'; kinds and make sure you moisturize and use sun block for faces. Almay makes a three-step system of Face Wash, Acne product and moisturizer that is pretty nice, non-irritating, and can be effective. Oil of Olay has some good systems too. Don't use soap on your face. Use Cetaphil or a face wash that won't clog pores or irritate you.
Tea-Tree products and men may not be a good plan, do to studies showing a reduction in tetosterone, with female characteristics like growing breast tissue reported. Wait out the studies before you go using those products. Check out the FDA site for the facts on Tee Tree Oil and men. Jesus! you are in a mess! go to the doctors!
Acne is very hard to get rid of. However you can do lots of things to reduce the amount of spots and hopefully at some point if you keep it up, you can get rid of it for good. Simply:
1. Wash your face twice a day using WARM water and tea tree facial scrub (recommended)
2. Drink lots and lots of water
3. Eat healthy foods, the nurtrients and minerals in the food will hydrate your skin and help unblock pores
4. Dont use chemicals on your skin, only dove soap and the tea tree facial scrub.
Just remember to keep on drinking water and to eat healthily. Also makesure you at least wash your face twice using dove soap in the morning and tea tree at night. Only use warm water as hot water opens the pores which can lead to infection. If none of this works or you feel you cannot handle it, consult your doctor and you will be prescribed with a medicine or be given a special treatment. But i recommend you to try these 4 steps for a couple of months before you trouble your doctor.
Remember the 4 things: Water, Fruit, Wash, No Chemicals.

So i was wondering can you use the clean and clear blackhead eraser pads on the neitrogena wave?
like i want to try the black head earaser but idont feel like spending 15 bucks on the little hanheld part if its vibrates the same just like the wave does it will work the same right?

i recently asked a question about how to get rid of blackheads. I got a lot of answers telling me to pop the blackheads but i dont know what to do. Does anyone know what popping blackheads is and if so how to do it?Popping blackheads?
Open the pores with either a hot wash cloth or standing over a pot of boiling water so the steam can open your pores. Then wash your face with a good cleanser, oil free if you tend to have oily skin. Now when you pop them, take your two index finger and face them at each other, much like what you do when trying to get a splinter out. Do this on the outside of the blackhead(s) that you want to pop until the oil and dirt comes out. Wipe them away with an astringent, Sea Breeze makes a really good ones. When you're all done, wash your face again with a mild cleanser to cleanse away any excess oil and dirt that may have spread while trying to pop them, splash your face with cold water to close up your pores and you're done.
It will not cause any scarring, but it will cause some redness that usually subsides within 24 hours. And Fruit Cake Lady is absolutely right. Not popping pimples (not blackhead) WILL cause scarring. One of my uncles is living proof of this as he never popped a pimple in his life and his face is permanantly pitted now. as a nurse and mother of 4 kids 3 who are teens I will tell you witch hazel works well for cleaning pores used it when I was younger too. It comes in a rubbing alcohol looking bottle and is usually found at any store next to rubbing alcohol and hydrogen peroxide. And it is very inexpensive.
Witch hazel is mainly used externally on sores, bruises and swelling. Witch hazel is used in skincare. It is a strong anti-oxidant and astringent, which makes it very useful in fighting acne. It has also been recommended for psoriasis, eczema, aftershave applications, cracked or blistered skin, for treating insect bites, poison ivy, and as a treatment for varicose veins and hemorrhoids. Witch hazel is also known to help with speeding the healing of cold sores with several daily applications.

You can also ask your doctor...i asked about my pimples when i was young and was given a certain product that was appropriate for my skin.

Well , I have blackheads on my nose and have used those blackhead strips. They didn't really work. We tried Acne Free and hated it. We really like ProActiv. Haven't found anything else that works as well. Cleared my daughter's blackheads in a matter of days, and her skin was really bad. Avon also makes something ... the name escapes me but it came in a green colored bottle. It was formulated for problem skin. Worked pretty well, but not as well as the ProActiv.
I don't use Proactiv, but my friend uses it and she says it works soo good, I tried it once, and it really did seem like it worked well. I use Mary Kay brand, but that's cuz my mom gets a good deal on it, but Proactiv is supposed to be like amazing! So if you I were you I would try that, but also, don't worry about it too bad, I know a really hot guy, a couple actually, and he has pretty bad acne, but he has TONS of girls that love him. So don't fret too much, and by what you have it doesn't sound like it's that bad, but you should try proactiv.

Steam your face with herbs like lavender, lemon peel and mint leaves added to the water and let the skin soak up its goodness.
